Rear Extension & Full Home Refresh in Thornbury

A rear extension and ground-floor transformation for this Thornbury home. Twin rooflights and triangular gable glazing crown a generous open-plan space with a navy island kitchen at its heart, herringbone flooring throughout, and full-width sliding doors to the garden. The works continued through the hallway, a graphite utility room and a redesigned family bathroom.

Gabled rear extension with twin rooflights, triangular glazing and sliding garden doors. Hand-painted kitchen with navy island, wine cooler and breakfast seating; herringbone flooring throughout; redesigned hallway, fitted graphite utility room, and a new family bathroom with walk-in shower and marble-effect tiling.

The owners wanted one flowing family space — kitchen, dining and living — with daylight from above and the garden beyond, plus the practical rooms (utility, bathroom) brought up to the same standard.

Unifying several rooms into one coherent ground floor, and keeping the character running from the front door right through to the garden.

A single herringbone floor runs wall to wall, tying old rooms to the new extension. The navy island anchors the kitchen beneath rooflights and gable glazing, while the utility and bathroom carry the same palette so the whole house reads as one renovation.
