Exeter — Cosy Kitchen Extension

To give a growing family a kitchen that genuinely works as the heart of the house — warm, practical and connected to the garden — without losing the character of the original red-brick home.

The extension had to sit comfortably against the original brickwork, pull daylight into a deep plan, and absorb the messy practicalities of family life — coats, laundry and all — without compromising the calm of the new living spaces.

A brick-and-zinc extension with full-width sliding doors and an oversized roof lantern floods the new kitchen with light, while the snug's deep blue bespoke joinery makes a deliberate, cosy contrast for evenings. A proper utility and boot room keeps the working mess out of sight, and the re-panelled hall with herringbone floor ties old house to new extension.
